Intrinsic Learning
Gandhi continued to learn until the end of his life He felt the desire to continue learning. |
The most important topic in schooling is with out a doubt in my mind is, a students intrinsic desire to learn. Intrinsic can be defined by Websters dictionary as "belonging to something as one of the basic and essential features that make it what it is." This means that students need to desire the education they are recieving from the very essence of their being. Without this desire to learn the whole educational experience will be ruined for the student.
In this video she describes the basic ideas of intrinsic learning:
I agree that the desire to learn is extremely important to the learning process. Maybe try to tie the video in better, it feels just tacked on the end.
ReplyDeleteIf we all wanted to learn as much as we should, then no one would ever complain about getting up and going to class. I definitely agree that it's important to nurture the innate desire for knowledge in students, and it's also important to understand that this extends beyond the classroom. We all have a hunger to learn through life experience and constructive learning should be encouraged in all facets of life. But yeah, waking up for class still stinks.
